FAQ – My child was completely potty trained but has started having accidents again. Why has this happened?

It’s not uncommon for children to start having accidents again even after quite a long time being clean and dry. This can happen when there’s a change of routine such as starting nursery or the arrival of a new sibling. It can also be a sign that they may be constipated and this needs treating to get them back on track (take a look at ERIC’s Guide to Children’s Bowel Problems for help with recognising and treating constipation.)

Try to avoid putting your child back into nappies/pull ups as this can be confusing for them, instead makes sure they are having plenty to drink and keep going with a consistent toilet routine.
